Personalized Solution

Every cancer is unique – in size, location, and shape. CairnSurgical is using patient imaging data to design a guide for surgeons to assist in locating and excising each unique tumor.

Improve Care

Over 200,000 Breast Conserving Surgery (BCS) procedures are performed in the U.S. each year for invasive breast cancer and Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS); 20-25% of BCS procedures fail to achieve clear tumor margins, thus requiring patients to undergo re-excision surgery. Re-excision surgery is associated with poorer cosmesis, more difficult recovery, and increased emotional strain for patients. In addition, concern regarding inadequate excision often drives surgeons to remove more breast tissue, which also prolongs recovery and increases disfiguration.

MRI Derived Localization and Guidance

MRI is widely accepted as an excellent modality to image breast cancer. The BCL is designed using supine MRI data and is intended to assist surgeons in localization and excision of tumors to reduce positive margins.
